Saturday, August 23, 2014 – Fort Ouiatenon, West Lafayette, Indiana
The 35th Annual Wabash River Ride will be held on Saturday, August 23 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us for well organized and supported rides of 35, 50, 72 or 108 miles through some of the most beautiful parts of Tippecanoe, Fountain and Warren counties. Enjoy scenic vistas of the Wabash River, Big Pine Creek and Rob Roy covered bridge. There are great routes for riders of all levels, and it ain’t just corn fields you’ll be viewing!
To fuel your ride, we have a wonderful selection of edibles planned including great stuff from some of our sponsors, like bread from Great Harvest and watermelon from Pleasant Acre Farms. We’ll continue our renowned tradition of home baked cookies from our club members, and have a real good barbecue lunch planned for you when you finish the ride. And this year we’re really going to make a party of it, with live music at rest stops and at lunch.
All riders will get a free Ride Day Benefits Card. Included are after ride extras like showers at a local gym; and discounts at local bike shops, events and ice cream stores. And a lucky pre-registered rider will win a bike raffle, thanks to our friends at Hodson’s Bay Bike Shop.
A lot is happening in Lafayette on the day of the ride. The Uptown Jazz and Blues Festival (5:00 p.m. to midnight in downtown Lafayette) features regional and national talent and is a great party. Come for the cycling and stay for the music! There is even a beer festival going on the same day (Beers Across the Wabash, 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on the pedestrian bridge near the levy.)
We are proud to have a charity partnership with Food Finders Food Bank, and a portion of your registration fees will go to feed the less fortunate. Food Finders Food Bank serves 16 counties in central Indiana, supporting pantries, shelters, and programs to assist children and families. And if you have an android or iphone you can even download a great app at Charity Miles, and make a contribution to Feed America just by cycling.
Pre-register on line until July 31 for just $25, with lunch and the ride day benefits card included. And if you register before June 30 you’ll even get a really cool t-shirt with our new design thrown in (available for $12 with on-line registration July 1-Aug 13.) On-line registration in August and day of ride registration will be $35, and a family rate will be available the day of the ride (up to two children under 14 at half price when accompanied by an adult.)
If you’re going to spend the night, we also have information about local hotels and campgrounds.
Put August 23 on your calendar and join us for a great ride!
